INDIANAPOLIS, Kompas.com - Jorge Lorenzo mengaku bahagia bakal berada dalam satu garasi dengan Valentino Rossi di tim pabrik Yamaha pada MotoGP 2013. Juara dunia 2010 ini pun berharap, Casey Stoner tak jadi pensiun dan kembali bergabung dengan Ducati.

Bukan cerita baru jika Lorenzo dan Rossi berada dalam satu tim. Kedua pebalap ini pernah menangguk kesuksesan ketika menjadi tandem pada 2008 hingga 2010, meskipun hubungan mereka tak harmonis.

Dengan berdirinya sebuah tembok pemisah di garasi dalam tiga musim kebersamaan tersebut, Rossi sukses merebut gelar juara dunia MotoGP untuk keenam dan ketujuh kalinya, sebelum Lorenzo menghentikannya dan meraih gelar pertama pada 2010. Pada tahun tersebut, Rossi mengalami cedera patah kaki.

Rossi memutuskan untuk pindah ke Ducati pada akhir 2010, sedangkan Lorenzo mengambilalih tampuk pimpinan di tim "Garpu Tala". Kini, pebalap Spanyol tersebut sedang memimpin klasemen sementara dan unggul 23 poin atas rival terdekatnya dari tim Repsol Honda, Dani Pedrosa.

"Saya pikir akan menarik melihat bagaimana kami bisa menggandeng lagi Valentino dan saya di tim yang sama. Dan ini merupakan sebuah kebahagiaan yang besar menjadi rekan setimnya lagi," ujar Lorenzo. "Dua tahun lebih dengan motor yang sama. Bagiku, segalanya positif."

Lorenzo mengungkapkan, dia sudah mengetahui tentang kemungkinan Rossi kembali ketika dirinya menandatangani perpanjangan kontrak berdurasi dua tahun pada pertengahan Juni lalu. Waktu itu, dirinya tak menyatakan keberatan.

"Saya tidak pernah peduli tentang (identitas) rekan setimku, dan saya tidakakan peduli untuk masa mendatang," jelas mantan juara dunia dua kali kelas 250 cc ini.

Berbicara tentang keberuntungan mereka sejak Rossi meninggalkan Yamaha, Lorenzo mengatakan bahwa dia siap membeberkan apapun jika pebalap Italia tersebut meminta.

"Nah, saya tidak memiliki masalah dengan siapapun," ujar Lorenzo. "Saya sangat menghormati Valentino. Jadi, mungkin jika dia meminta pertolonganku, saya akan memberinya," lanjutnya seraya menambahkan, Yamaha tak memiliki pebalap nomor satu, sehingga semua pebalapnya akan mendapat prioritas yang sama.

Lorenzo juga berbicara tentang keputusan Stoner yang pensiun pada akhir musim 2012 ini. Dia pun diminta pendapatnya mengenai persaingan dengan Rossi pada musim mendatang.

"Jujur, saya menginginkan Casey kembali ke Ducati. Ini pasti akan menyenangkan (tertawa). Tetapi saya tidak berpikir tentang kemungkinan ini!" ujar Lorenzo.

"Jadi, ya, mungkin salah satu tantanganku adalah kembali mengalahkan Valentino, meskipun itu bukan yang utama. Tujuan utama adalah kembali menjadi juara dunia tahun ini dan dua tahun ke depan."

Rossi kembali ke Yamaha untuk menggantikan posisi Ben Spies. Juara dunia World Superbike 2009 asal Texas ini sudah resmi mengumumkan bahwa dia meninggalkan Yamaha pada akhir musim 2012, dan belum memutuskan langkahnya untuk musim mendatang.

Bali Incar 22 Medali Emas di PON 2012

"Atas doa restu masyarakat target tersebut bisa menjadi kenyataan supaya bisa menduduki peringkat lebih terhormat dari sembilan besar pada PON Kaltim 2008," kata Ketua Umum KONI Bali, Drs Made Nariana, di Denpasar, Kamis (16/8/2012).

Nariana, saat mendampingi Gubernur Bali Mangku Pastika meninjau kondisi atlet PON Bali pada pemusatan latihan di Denpasar, melaporkan bahwa pemusatan latihan diawali dengan penggemblengan mental atlet.

Tindakan tersebut dinilai penting untuk memumpuk rasa kebersamaan dan kekompakan dalam tim sehingga mampu memecahkan permasalahan dengan baik. Masalah kebersamaan penting ditanamkan dalam tim olahraga, kata dia.

Para atlet ditanamkan mental juara dalam setiap pertandingan sehingga dalam bertanding tidak lagi menjadi beban, jadi sebelum turun di arena PON nanti maka pada pemusatan latihan diawali penggemblengan mantal maupun fisik. Masalah disiplin di kalangan atlet maupun pelatih harus tetap terbina dengan baik, maka pengawasan dilakukan oleh tim KONI Bali.

Gubernur Bali tampak kagum ketika menyaksikan atlet PON setempat melakukan atraksi pencak silat hasil gemblengan para pelatih yang nantinya akan bertanding melawan rekannya di arena PON Riau.

Atlet pencak silat PON Bali ini pernah keliling dunia memperkenalkan seni bela diri Indonesia ke mancanegara seperti ke Eropa, Amerika serikat. Diharapkan, Pencak Silat bisa menyumbang medali pada PON mendatang.

Taufik Hidayat Pasti Tampil di Indonesia Terbuka

PALEMBANG, Kompas.com - Taufik Hidayat pasti tampil di turnamen Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton Championship di Palembang, Sumatera Selatan, 25-30 September 2012.

"Panitia telah melakukan konfirmasi kepada Taufik dan telah menyatakan akan ambil bagian," kata Ketua PP PBSI Sumatera Selatan, Robert Heri, di Palembang, Kamis (16/8/2012).

Menurut dia, pada ajang itu panitia pelaksana akan membidik peringkat satu hingga sepuluh dunia untuk berlaga pada lima nomor yang dipertandingkan.

"Target kami untuk setiap nomor yakni tunggal putra, tunggal putri, ganda putra, ganda putri, ganda campuran, harus ada peringkat sepuluh besar dunia," ujarnya.

Ia optimistis, ajang bintang tiga World Badminton Federation itu memiliki daya tarik tersendiri bagi pebulutangkis kelas dunia, karena menawarkan hadiah total Rp 1,2 miliar.

"Khusus untuk sepuluh besar peringkat dunia akan diberikan keringanan biaya akomodasi," katanya.

Sebanyak 500 hingga 700 pebulutangkis dari 20 negara diprediksi ambil bagian pada kejuaraan yang bakal digelar di Palembang Sport Convention Center. Menurut dia, panitia pelaksana masih merembukkan dengan segenap pihak terkait mengenai harga tiket masuk.

"Penonton tidak akan kecewa meski membayar. Selain menyaksikan atlet kelas dunia, juga mendapatkan sajian hiburan dari band asal ibu kota seperti d’massiv," ujarnya.

Pertandingan itu juga disiarkan secara langsung oleh salah satu televisi swasta nasional.

"Kejuaraan ini dikemas seperti layaknya event kelas dunia dengan memakai 16 orang wasit bersertifikat BWF dan hakim garis wasit sertifikat nasional.

Sementara, Direktur Utama PTBA Milawarma sebagai sponsor mengatakan siap memberikan dukungan kepada pemerintah provinsi dalam menyelenggarakan kejuaraan skala internasional.

"Meski ajang ini skala internasional tapi pada prinsipnya masyarakat menginginkan pebulutangkis Indonesia mampu mengukir prestasi, dan kembali disegani pada panggung internasional," katanya.

Cedera Panjang, Nadal Absen di AS Terbuka

NEWYORK, KOMPAS.com - Cedera lutut yang tak kunjung pulih membuat Rafael Nadal kembali akan absen dalam kejuaraan besar. Petenis Spanyol ini akan absen di Amerika Serikat Terbuka yang akan berlangsung di New York, 27 Agustus-9 September.

Baru-baru ini, Nadal juga absen dalam kejuaraan besar, yaitu Olimpiade London 2012. Setelah itu, petenis nomor tiga dunia ini mengundurkan diri dari Turnamen Master 1000 di Toronto dan Cincinnati.

"Saya sangat sedih harus mengumumkan bahwa saya masih belum siap untuk main dan harus mengundurkan diri dari AS Terbuka tahun ini di New York. Saya minta maaf karena sebenarnya saya selalu mendapat dukungan besar dari penonton. Saya harus melanjutkan penyembuhan dan mempersiapkan diri agar bisa bermain dalam kondisi yang tepat. Pernyataan ini ditanggapi Direktur Turnamen AS Terbuka David Brewer dengan harapan Nadal bisa kembali ke New York tahun depan. Gaya permainan Nadal yang sangat mengandalkan fisik memang membuatnya rentan cedera. Nadal pernah absen di Wimbledon 2009, juga, karena cedera lutut. Namun, cedera kali ini terbilang parah.

Dia tak pernah berkompetisi sejak kekalahan mengejutkan dari Lukas Rosol di babak kedua Wimbledon, Juni lalu. Kondisi juara AS Terbuka 2010 ini menyita perhatian rival utama, sekaligus temannya, Roger Federer. Sebelum bertanding di Cincinnati pada pekan ini, Federer mengatakan akan menghubungi Nadal untuk bertanya tentang kondisinya.

"Saya tak percaya dia tak bermain begitu lama. Memilih tidak bermain di Olimpiade, tidak masalah. Itu adalah pilihan personal. Saya pikir kami akan melihatnya di Toronto dan Cincinnati. Ini mengejutkan karena kami tidak pernah mendengar bahwa cederanya parah. Saya simpati padanya atas kondisi ini," kata Federer yang tak pernah absen dalam 51 Grand Slam sejak tahun 2000.

Simpati juga datang dari pemain basket Spanyol Pau Gasol yang juga merupakan sahabat Nadal. Dalam akun twitternya, Gasol berharap Nadal bisa melewati cobaan terberatnya ini dan bisa segera pulih.

Hanya Alonso dan Vettel yang Berduel untuk Juara Dunia

KOMPAS.com - Rubens Barrichello yakin, pertarungan memperebutkan gelar juara dunia Formula 1 musim 2012 ini akan mengerucut hanya kepada dua pebalap, yaitu Fernando Alonso dan Sebastian Vettel.

Saat ini Alonso kokoh di puncak klasemen sementara. Pebalap Ferrari itu mengumpulkan total 164 poin, unggul 40 angka atas pebalap Red Bull Racing, Mark Webber. Sementara itu, Vettel, yang merupakan rekan setim Webber, ada di posisi ketiga dengan hanya tertinggal dua poin dari Webber. Pebalap McLaren, Lewis Hamilton, yang ada di posisi keempat terus memberikan ancaman, begitu juga dengan Kimi Raikkonen di urutan kelima, yang hanya terpaut satu poin dari Hamilton.

Meskipun jarak antara pebalap tersebut tak terlalu jauh, tetapi Barrichello yakin Vettel akan bangkit pada paruh kedua musim ini, yang akan dimulai di Spa-Francorchamps, Belgia, pada 2 September mendatang.

"Alonso sedang dalam penampilan terbaik dalam hidupnya," ujar Barrichello dalam sebuah wawancara dengan media Jerman, Auto Motor und Sport, pekan ini.

"Dia tidak memiliki mobil tercepat, tetapi dia mampu membuatnya menjadi yang terbaik dan sekarang para rival saling mengambil poin. Pada akhirnya, hasilnya adalah duel antara Alonso dan Vettel."

Mengenai rival lamanya dan juga mantan rekan setimnya di Ferrari, Michael Schumacher, Barrichello mengatakan bahwa dia akan mengalami masa yang sulit setelah kembali dari masa pensiun. Ini berbeda dengan Raikkonen, yang tampil impresif dalam debutnya setelah sempat hengkang dari F1 pascajuara dunia 2007.

Ya, Schumacher dan Raikkonen mengalami musim yang berbeda. Ketika Schumacher harus melewati lebih dari 40 balapan untuk bisa naik podium, Raikkonen justru hanya perlu empat seri untuk berdiri di podium bersama tim Lotus.

Jadi, skandal yang melibatkan delapan pemain ganda putri itu seharusnya tak berakibat buruk kepada olahraga ini di masa mendatang.

Empat pasangan putri harus menerima kenyataan pahit didiskualifikasi dari Olimpiade 2012. Dua pasangan Korea Selatan, satu pasangan Indonesia dan satu pasangan China gagal melanjutkan kiprahnya di babak perempat final, karena pada partai terakhir penyisihan grup, mereka tak mau memenangkan pertandingan. Federer Tak Terkejut Nadal Absen

NEW YORK, Kompas.com - Petenis nomor satu dunia, Roger Federer, tak terkejut dengan keputusan Rafael Nadal yang mundur dari Grand Slam AS Terbuka. Pasalnya, petenis kidal asal Spanyol itu sudah pernah memberitahukan kepada Federer perihal kondisinya yang tak memungkinkan.

"Ini bukan sebuah kejutan, karena saya kontak dengannya dan dia mengatakan kepadaku bahwa kondisinya tak bagus," ujar Federer, Rabu (15/8/2012), yang kini sedang mengikuti turnamen Cincinnati Masters.

"Saya merasa ini pasti terjadi. Tetapi tentu saja ketika sudah resmi bahwa dia mundur, maka sangat mengecewakan bagi dunia tenis. Itu tak bisa dipungkiri," tambah superstar asal Swiss, yang merupakan rival berat Nadal di era Open.

Keprihatinan juga datang dari petenis elite lainnya, Novak Djokovic dan peraih medali emas Olimpiade London 2012, Andy Murray. Mereka sangat menyayangkan cedera yang masih membelit Nadal, sehingga petenis kidal asal Spanyol itu terpaksa absen di grand slam akhir tahun ini.

Andrews bunuh diri tepat pada hari Valentine tahun ini—momen di mana dia sudah berencana menjemput Sharpe, anggota dari English National Ballet, untuk melakukan perjalanan ke Paris.

Setelah kematian sang kekasih, Sharpe mencurahkan isi hatinya lewat akun Twitter-nya bahwa dia "benar-benar hancur". Dia mengatakan kepada seorang teman beberapa hari kemudian, "Aku akan naik ke atas panggung sekarang, saya berharap dia menonton dari suatu tempat xxx."
