INDIANAPOLIS, Kompas.com - Jorge Lorenzo mengaku bahagia bakal berada dalam satu garasi dengan Valentino Rossi di tim pabrik Yamaha pada MotoGP 2013. Juara dunia 2010 ini pun berharap, Casey Stoner tak jadi pensiun dan kembali bergabung dengan Ducati.

Bukan cerita baru jika Lorenzo dan Rossi berada dalam satu tim. Kedua pebalap ini pernah menangguk kesuksesan ketika menjadi tandem pada 2008 hingga 2010, meskipun hubungan mereka tak harmonis.

Dengan berdirinya sebuah tembok pemisah di garasi dalam tiga musim kebersamaan tersebut, Rossi sukses merebut gelar juara dunia MotoGP untuk keenam dan ketujuh kalinya, sebelum Lorenzo menghentikannya dan meraih gelar pertama pada 2010. Pada tahun tersebut, Rossi mengalami cedera patah kaki.

Rossi memutuskan untuk pindah ke Ducati pada akhir 2010, sedangkan Lorenzo mengambilalih tampuk pimpinan di tim "Garpu Tala". Kini, pebalap Spanyol tersebut sedang memimpin klasemen sementara dan unggul 23 poin atas rival terdekatnya dari tim Repsol Honda, Dani Pedrosa.

"Saya pikir akan menarik melihat bagaimana kami bisa menggandeng lagi Valentino dan saya di tim yang sama. Dan ini merupakan sebuah kebahagiaan yang besar menjadi rekan setimnya lagi," ujar Lorenzo. "Dua tahun lebih dengan motor yang sama. Bagiku, segalanya positif."

Lorenzo mengungkapkan, dia sudah mengetahui tentang kemungkinan Rossi kembali ketika dirinya menandatangani perpanjangan kontrak berdurasi dua tahun pada pertengahan Juni lalu. Waktu itu, dirinya tak menyatakan keberatan.

"Saya tidak pernah peduli tentang (identitas) rekan setimku, dan saya tidakakan peduli untuk masa mendatang," jelas mantan juara dunia dua kali kelas 250 cc ini.

Berbicara tentang keberuntungan mereka sejak Rossi meninggalkan Yamaha, Lorenzo mengatakan bahwa dia siap membeberkan apapun jika pebalap Italia tersebut meminta.

"Nah, saya tidak memiliki masalah dengan siapapun," ujar Lorenzo. "Saya sangat menghormati Valentino. Jadi, mungkin jika dia meminta pertolonganku, saya akan memberinya," lanjutnya seraya menambahkan, Yamaha tak memiliki pebalap nomor satu, sehingga semua pebalapnya akan mendapat prioritas yang sama.

Lorenzo juga berbicara tentang keputusan Stoner yang pensiun pada akhir musim 2012 ini. Dia pun diminta pendapatnya mengenai persaingan dengan Rossi pada musim mendatang.

"Jujur, saya menginginkan Casey kembali ke Ducati. Ini pasti akan menyenangkan (tertawa). Tetapi saya tidak berpikir tentang kemungkinan ini!" ujar Lorenzo.

"Jadi, ya, mungkin salah satu tantanganku adalah kembali mengalahkan Valentino, meskipun itu bukan yang utama. Tujuan utama adalah kembali menjadi juara dunia tahun ini dan dua tahun ke depan."

Rossi kembali ke Yamaha untuk menggantikan posisi Ben Spies. Juara dunia World Superbike 2009 asal Texas ini sudah resmi mengumumkan bahwa dia meninggalkan Yamaha pada akhir musim 2012, dan belum memutuskan langkahnya untuk musim mendatang.
