AUCKLAND, KOMPAS.com — Spain no. 1 David Ferrer who occupies the top seed and three-time champion in the tournament, the Heineken Open in Auckland, New Zealand, Thursday (10/1/2013), stepped into the semi-finals after defeating Slovakia tennis player, Lukas Lacko, 6-2, 6-1.
It was the second leg of the semifinals to Ferrer earlier this year. Earlier, the world's five top-ranked Ferrer, qualified for the semifinals of the tournament in Doha, Qatar ExxonMobil, last week. But in the semifinals, he lost to veteran tennis player Nikolay Davydenko, Russia.
In addition to Ferrer, the second-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany and Sam Querrey of the United States, also reached the semi-finals of the Heineken open. Kohlschreiber advanced to the semifinals after beating Xavier Malisse of Belgium, 7-6 (6), 6-4. While Querrey conquered Canada tennis player, Jesse Levine, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
In the semifinals, Querrey will face to face with Kohlschreiber, while Ferrer will be against the winner between the Gaels Monfils against Tommy Haas.
